The image of Churchill, made up into a punk rock icon with a green “turf” on his head, harkens back to the May 2000 demonstrations in London, known as the “Turf Wars”. This monochromatic stencil with a vibrant layer of grey shows the iconic image of Winston Churchill “rocking” the punk hairstyle, one of the most recognisable elements of contra-culture or punk movement. By juxtapositioning these iconic elements, Banksy mocks and questions the British establishment and his figures.

Durch die Vereinigung der beiden Welten verspottet Banksy die britische Regierung und ihre Akteure und stellt diese dadurch infrage.
