The omnipresence of smartphones has accelerated the extinction of once indispensable objects. In London, many of them have become mere tourist attractions. In this work, Banksy presents a wounded telephone booth, bleeding from the impact of a pickaxe. Banksy leaves aside political protest to reflect on the relationship between man and technology. The telephone booth, besides being a cultural icon, is a technological icon because on the one hand, it represents progress related to the urban world, and on the other hand a certain type of two-way communication. The phone booth was sold for over half a million dollars in 2006.

L’omniprésence des smartphones accélère la disparition des cabines téléphoniques autrefois indispensables. À Londres, la plupart d’entre elles ne sont plus que des attractions touristiques. Dans cette œuvre, Banksy nous présente une cabine téléphonique en sang, blessée par une pioche. Banksy laisse ici de côté l’aspect politique pour réfléchir à la relation entre l’homme et la machine. La cabine téléphonique n’est pas seulement une icône culturelle, elle est aussi une icône technologique représentant le progrès technique du monde urbain. L’œuvre a été vendue pour plus d’un demi-million de dollars en 2006.
