The omnipresence of smartphones accelerates the extinction of once indispensable objects. In London, many of them have become a mere tourist attraction. In this work, Banksy presents a wounded telephone booth, bleeding from the impact of a pickaxe. Banksy leaves aside political protest to reflect on the relationship between man and technology. The telephone booth, besides being a cultural icon, is a technological icon because it represents on the one hand progress related to the urban world and on the other hand a certain type of two-way communication. The phone booth was sold for over half a million dollars in 2006.
