Stop me before I paint again shows a policeman in uniform holding a police dog on a leash and carrying a torch in his hand. He inspects the writing of the same sentence on a wall and looks for the person responsible for the graffiti. The dog stands tensely, tightening the leash as if he has already picked up a scent and is ready to give chase. Once again in this work Banksy mocks the police forces who arrive on the scene too late. It implies a certain superiority of the street artists over the police, who are even challenged by the words “Stop me before I paint again”. So the artist behind the graffiti seems to have no fear of the police. Yet it is very important for Banksy and other street artists to remain anonymous and undetected in their art, as it is legally damage to property which can be punished with heavy fines and even imprisonment. “Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Stop me before I paint again zeigt einen Polizisten in Uniform, der einen Polizeihund an der Leine hält und eine Taschenlampe in der Hand trägt. Er inspiziert den gleichnamigen Schriftzug an einer Wand und hält Ausschau nach dem Verantwortlichen für das Graffiti. Der Hund steht angespannt da und strafft die Leine, als ob er bereits eine Spur aufgenommen hätte und bereit wäre, die Verfolgung aufzunehmen. Wieder einmal verhöhnt Banksy in diesem Werk die Polizeikräfte, die zu spät an Ort und Stelle eintreffen. Es impliziert eine gewisse Überlegenheit der Straßenkünstler gegenüber der Polizei, die durch den Schriftzug „Stop me before I paint again” (Halt mich auf, bevor ich wieder male) sogar herausgefordert werden. Der Künstler hinter dem Graffiti scheint also keine Angst vor der Polizei zu haben. Dabei ist es für Banksy und andere Straßenkünstler sehr wichtig, bei ihrer Kunst anonym und unentdeckt zu bleiben, handelt es sich weg doch gesetzlich um Sachbeschädigungen, die mit hohen Geldstrafen bis hin zu Freiheitsstrafen geahndet werden können. „Manche Menschen werden Polizisten, weil sie die Welt zu einem besseren Ort machen möchten. « Stop me before I paint again » montre un policier en uniforme tenant un chien policier en laisse et une lampe poche à la main. Il inspecte ce qui est inscrit sur le mur et cherche l’auteur de ce graffiti. Le chien est à l’affût et sa laisse est tendue, comme s’il était déjà sur une piste, prêt à se lancer à la poursuite du malfaiteur. Dans cette œuvre, Banksy se moque une fois de plus des agents de police qui arrivent trop tard sur les lieux. Il donne une certaine supériorité aux artistes de rue par rapport à la police et lance même un défi « Stop me before I paint again » (Arrêtez-moi avant que je recommence). L’artiste qui se cache derrière le graffiti ne semble pas avoir peur de la police. Pour Banksy et d’autres artistes de rue, il est donc très important de rester anonymes et de ne pas être démasqués lorsqu’ils pratiquent leur art. En effet, les graffitis sont considérés comme des dommages matériels et peuvent être sanctionnés par de lourdes amendes, voire des peines d’emprisonnement. « Certains deviennent flics parce qu’ils veulent rendre le monde meilleur. Stop me before I paint again przedstawia policjanta w mundurze trzymającego na smyczy psa policyjnego i latarkę. Sprawdzają napis, o tej samej treści na ścianie, szuka osoby odpowiedzialnej za wykonanie graffiti. Pies stoi w napięciu, napinając smycz, jakby już wyczuł zapach i był gotowy do pościgu. Po raz kolejny w tej pracy Banksy kpi z policji, która przybywa na miejsce zdarzenia zbyt późno. Sugeruje to pewną wyższość artystów ulicznych nad policją, której nawet rzucają wyzwanie słowami „Zatrzymaj mnie, zanim znowu będę malował”. Wygląda więc na to, że artysta, który namalował to graffiti nie obawia się policji. Jednak dla Banksy’ego i innych artystów ulicznych bardzo ważne jest, aby pozostać anonimowym i niewykrytym w swojej sztuce, ponieważ zgodnie z prawem jest to uszkodzenie mienia, które może być karane wysokimi grzywnami, a nawet więzieniem. „Niektórzy zostają policjantami, ponieważ chcą uczynić świat lepszym.
