The mural was created in Venice in 2019 on the island of Dorsoduro during the opening of the Biennale. The exhibition called „May you Live in Interesting Times“ dealt with the theme of migration. The artwork shows a child wearing a life jacket and holding a pink torch – an reference to the distress of migrants and refugees. During the flood disaster in November 2019, the work Venice Migrant Child was partially flooded.
Das Wandbild entstand 2019 in Venedig auf der Insel Dorsoduro während der Vernissage der Biennale. Die Ausstellung mit dem Titel „May you Live in Interesting Times“ beschäftigte sich mit dem Thema Migration. Das Kunstwerk zeigt ein Kind, das eine Schwimmweste trägt und eine rosa Fackel in der Hand hält – eine Anspielung auf die Notlage von Migranten und Flüchtlingen. Während der Flutkatastrophe im November 2019 wurde das Werk Venice Migrant Child teilweise überschwemmt.
La peinture murale a été réalisée en 2019 à Venise, sur l’île de Dorsoduro, pendant le vernissage de la Biennale. L’exposition intitulée « May you Live in Interesting Times » s’intéressait au thème de la migration. L’œuvre d’art montre un enfant qui porte un gilet de sauvetage et tient une torche rose à la main, une allusion à la détresse des migrants et des réfugiés. Lors des inondations de novembre 2019, l’œuvre Venice Migrant Child a été submergée en partie par les eaux.
Mural powstał w Wenecji w 2019 roku na wyspie Dorsoduro podczas otwarcia Biennale. Wystawa „May you Live in Interesting Times” dotyczyła tematu migracji. Grafika przedstawia dziecko ubrane w kamizelkę ratunkową i trzymające różową latarkę – nawiązanie do cierpienia migrantów i uchodźców. Podczas klęski powodzi w listopadzie 2019 roku mural Venice Migrant Child został częściowo zalany.
