Pandemic and quarantine have taken a toll on all of us, and Banksy is not indifferent to this. Executed in what he indicates to be his own home in April 2020, Banksy posted a series of images on his Instagram account under the caption “My wife hates when I work from home”. In this art install, we can see a bunch of naughty rats having fun in the bathroom. One swings on the towel ring and steps on the toothpaste tube with its little paw while another runs on a roll of toilet paper. There is even a rat making use of the facilities, although it is clearly not a good shot. And in the mirror, we see a rat doing the same thing as many of us: counting the days we’ve been in quarantine.
Pandemie und Quarantäne haben uns alle vor große Herausforderungen gestellt, das lässt auch Künstler wie Banksy nicht kalt. Das zeigt die chaotische Installation in seinem vermeintlich eigenem Badezimmer, die er mit der Bildunterschrift „Meine Frau hasst es, wenn ich von zu Hause arbeite“ auf Instagram gepostet hat. Die frechen Ratten haben den Raum erobert. Eine schaukelt am Handtuchhalter und steigt dabei mit ihrer kleinen Pfote auf die Zahnpastatube. Eine andere funktioniert eine Rolle Toilettenpapier zum Laufband um. Ein weiteres Tier verschafft sich Erleichterung und hinterlässt dabei unschöne Spuren. Im Spiegel ist eine Ratte zu sehen, die mit einer Strichliste die Dauer der Quarantäne zählt – wie so viele von uns auch.

La scène chaotique dans ce qu’il pense être sa propre salle de bains, postée sur Instagram avec la légende « Ma femme déteste quand je travaille à la maison », en est la preuve. Des rats effrontés ont envahi la pièce. L’un d’eux se balance sur le porte-serviettes en appuyant sur le tube de dentifrice avec sa patte. Un autre transforme un rouleau de papier toilette en tapis roulant. Un autre encore urine sur la cuvette en laissant des traces disgracieuses. Dans le miroir, on voit un rat qui décompte sa durée de quarantaine en dessinant des barres, comme tant d’entre nous.
Pandemia i kwarantanna odcisnęły piętno na nas wszystkich, a Banksy nie pozostaje na to obojętny. W kwietniu 2020 roku w miejscu, które wskazuje jako swój własny dom, Banksy opublikował serię zdjęć na swoim koncie na Instagramie z podpisem „Moja żona nie cierpi, kiedy pracuję w domu”. W tej instalacji artystycznej możemy zobaczyć grupę niesfornych szczurów bawiących się w łazience. Jeden huśta się na wieszaku na ręczniki i stąpa małą łapką po tubce pasty do zębów, podczas gdy inny biega po rolce papieru toaletowego. Jest nawet szczur korzystający z toalety, choć najwyraźniej nie jest to dobre ujęcie. W lustrze widzimy szczura, który robi to samo, co wielu z nas, czyli liczy dni kwarantanny.
