The sculpture is one of several model boats on display at the Dismaland exhibition in Weston-super-Mare, cruising around in a pool of miniature police boats and small sculptures of drowned refugees. It shows an over-loaded boat full of refugees. The models were offered for raffle while the exhibition was still on to raise money for the Help Refugees charity. With a £2 stake, people could take part and guess how much the sculpture weighed. This action was continued in the pop-up shop “Choose Love” in London to boost fundraising there as well. Other works in Dismaland also aimed to raise awareness of the refugee issue. After dismantling, Banksy donated the wood and other structural elements to help build shelters in the Calais refugee camp.

Nach dem Abbau spendete Banksy das Holz und andere Strukturelemente, um beim Bau von Unterkünften im Flüchtlingslager Calais zu helfen.
