Slave Labour is a mural Banksy painted on the side wall of a Poundland store in Wood Green, London, in May 2012. The artwork depicts a young child at a sewing machine assembling a pennant from Union Jack flags. The work was a protest against the ex-ploitation of labour in the production of commemorative items and souvenirs for the Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics. In February 2013, Slave Labour was removed from its location and put up for sale at an art auction in Miami, USA. Following an objection from Wood Green residents, the mural was withdrawn from sale in the US and returned to the UK. The work later sold at auction in Covent Garden, London, sold for 1.2 million (USD).
