Space Girl and Bird is part of a series of designs commissioned by the British band Blur for the cover of their „Think Tank“ album. It shows a girl in a parka jacket and a deep-sea diving helmet looking down at the yellow bird on her hand, with a dripping pink heart hovering above. Banksy had spray-painted different versions of either children or couples in love wearing deep-sea diving helmets. In another work, the yellow bird seen here soiled a boy’s helmet. Space Girl and Bird was sold at auction at Bonhams auction house in London on 25 April 2007. It was sold to a telephone bidder from the USA for the surprising price of 479,926 US dollars, far exceeding the estimated maximum value of 30,000 US dollars.
